3 Days Uganda Gorilla tracking Safari in Bwindi impenetrable national park Overview The 3 days Gorilla Trekking Safari Uganda is an ideal encounter for both nature lovers and explorers; the trip to Africa’s thickest forest is worth undertaking, upon leaving Uganda’s capital Kampala. The journey surpasses the equator where you will have a halt. You will have a life time opportunity to stand in two different hemispheres at the same time. After, you will have a lunch stop at Igongo cultural Center along Mbarara-Masaka road just 12 km before the western capital, Mbarara town. The safari also includes the visit to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to trek the famous Mountain Gorillas . The park is a habitat to 400 out of the 880 Mountain Gorillas that are currently known to be thriving in the world. The steep jungles of Bwindi avail an ideal challenging hike that is beyond the gorillas themselves. The hike through lush vegetation marked with well grown trees; characterized with rich undergrowth all come up together to make the park impenetrable. The park is notably the number one birding destination in Africa by the Africa Bird Club. More importantly is a legendary home of the Batwa community. These are noted to be the first inhabitants of the East African region. The combination of these makes the gorilla safari in Bwindi worth undertaking. Safari summary: Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Visit Uganda Equator. Day 2: Gorilla trekking safari and relax at the lodge in the evening. Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala. Safari itinerary in detail: Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Make a stop at the Uganda Equator After the morning breakfast, you will drive from Kampala towards the west and have a stop at the Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe 72 km from Kampala to encounter the world’s main latitude and purchase African handicrafts and souvenirs and a thrilling cool photo session. There is also an amazing local water experiment that proves the earth split-up into two halves, the north and south spheres. After this encounter, you will continue on the journey to Bwindi National Park driving past the pastoral lands of Ankole with impressive scenery and the views of cattle both long horned and Friesian grazing in this savannah rangeland. The views of Burchell’s Zebras and Impala straying from the adjacent Lake Mburo National Park may also be spotted as they graze along with the cows. Make another stop at Igongo Cultural Center 12 km to Mbarara town for a sumptuous traditional lunch exploring the local cuisine in entirety. After lunch, you continue on the drive arriving in Bwindi impenetrable national park in the evening for check in at your lodge, relaxation, dinner and overnight. You will enter into the amazing rain forest (gorilla sanctuary) as it offers an exciting, heavily forested and dense landscape interrupted by plenty of animal trails that provide access for tourists tracking these resident animals. Mammals thriving here include majorly the endangered mountain gorillas, elephants, buffaloes, giant forest hogs, the rare golden monkey, black-fronted Duikers, bush bucks, leopards to mention but a few. However, the charming mountain gorillas form the highlight of the park, you will continue to the misty Bwindi forest in search of the world’s most sought after and endangered species. The trekking adventure takes you through impressive hikes exploring the attractive forest landscapes characterized by rugged terrain which makes it quite challenging to explore. The time and track taken while looking for these beautiful primates varies according to their movements, “Remember they are also wild animals”. DAY 1:  BIRD WATCHING EXPERIENCE
You will fly into Entebbe early morning where you are received by company guides, Greet and transfer to the hotel for check in and refreshments and later an introductory birding in the botanical gardens and along the shores of Lake Victoria.

Day 2:  MABAMBA BAY AND TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST
Early breakfast and with a parked lunch drive to Mabamba Swamp Wetland, located on the fringes of Lake Victoria and nearest site for the Shoebill, take up a paddled canoe to bird around the swamp in search for the elegant shoebill stork and other species like Lesser Jacana, Blue Swallow, Black-Shouldered kite, Blue Breasted Bee-Eater, Papyrus Gonolek, White Winged warbler, Carruther’s Cisticola ,Papyrus Gonolek, Spotting Swamp Flycatcher, ducks, plovers, gulls, egrets, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers. Paddle out the swamp and have your picnic lunch and there after drive west to Kibale forest.

Day 3:  FOREST BIRDING KIBALE FOREST –GREEN BREASTED PITTA
We have a full days birding Kibale forest which is the hot spot for the Green Breasted pitta and a home to 325 plus bird species. We will make an early start to Kanyachu tourist center where you meet your site bird guide who will lead you to bird areas in the forest where you search for the Pitta .

Day 4:  BIGONDI SWAMP WALK,   CHIMPANZEE TRACKING
After a full day of forest birding, you will have chance to see other diversities of the rain forest. Today morning you will track the chimpanzees which are the most tourist attraction the forest is a home 13 primate species with the highest concentration of Red colubus monkeys in Africa. Return for lunch and transfer to Queen Elizabath Park .

Day:5  BIRDING QUEEN ELIZABETH SAVANNAH BIRDING
Savannah birding of Queen Elizabeth Park stays with an early rise, birding along the tracks of  Kasenyi plains, Lake Gorge and Lake Edward gives you chance to view lots of savannah species: African fish eagle, Pallid Harriers, Black tailed Godwit, Slender billed gull, Common tern, Spoon Bill, African Skimmers, Great White pelican, Pink backed pelicans, Saddle billed stork, Martial Eagle, lesser Flamingoes and raptors, even encounter some animal species, African Elephant, Buffalo, topi, lions, leopards, warthogs, Uganda Kobs,  and afternoon is for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel where to encounter Shore birds, crocodiles.

Day 6:  BIRD TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE PARK
Today we drive to Bwindi- Ruhija area birding, the Neck en route looking for Black bee-eaters, wood peckers Greenbuls, Cassin’ grey flycatcher arriving Ruhija in the afternoon to bird the surroundings near our accommodation.

Day 7:  ALBERTINE ENDEMICS
Birding Albertine Rift Valleys, At least one day will be spent exploring the highland forest at Ruhija,some 800 m higher than Buhoma, on a clear day one can see all the way to the Virungas. It has a dramatically different nature and avifauna; it is also the site with most of the Albertine endemics. The star attractions here are Collared Apalis, Ruwenzori Hill Babbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Shelly’s Crimsonwing, Dusky Crimsonwing, Archer’s Robin-chat, Regal Sunbird, Blue-headed Sunbird, Dwarf Honeyguide and many others. The trail to Mubwindi Swamp promises to reveal some of the most difficult of all rift-endemics including the mythical African Green Broadbill. Mubwindi Swamp holds Graur’s Rush Warbler and Carruther’s Cisticola. Please note this trail is strenuous and requires one to be fit but taken slowly its quite manageable.

Day 8:  LAKE MUBRO NATIONAL PARK.
Very early morning, we drive to  Lake Mburo park ,  you will have an opportunity to bird along the way ,and encounter some native mammals, as we drive straight to the park to catch up with the evening drive searching for Zebras, giraffes antelopes ,birds and swamp species.
Later we move back at lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 9:  NATURE WALK &BOAT CRUISE ON LAKE MBURO
This morning we start with birding around Lake Mburo swamps and camp surroundings looking for papyrus gonelek, Rofous bellied heron, Long tailed cisticola ,Red faced barbet, Yellow breasted apalis. Later take up a boat cruise to search for African fin foot, White backed heron and other birds. 
Bird Cruise: White winged warbler, Papyrus Gonlek, papyrus canary, African fish eagle, Pied King fisher, etc.
After the boat cruise we have dinner and over night.

Day 10:  END OF SAFARI
We wake up late and have our breakfast at around 9:00Am,
After breakfast, embark on the journey back to Kampala, traversing the impressive plain lands in the countryside of south western Uganda before getting to Igongo Cultural Center 12km past Mbarara town for a traditional sumptuous lunch.
The animals which can be encountered along the way include; Impala antelope which only exists in this small but rich national park, Lake Mburo National park, Burchell’s Zebra. You will make a stop at Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe for the last photo session as you leave Uganda for memories.
Continue to catch up with your departure flight through Entebbe international airport.
Transfer to Entebbe airport for your home flight.
